Dead Garage Door Opener? Do This!

Coming home to a stubborn inoperable garage door is just what everyone needs on a Monday morning. Its bad enough we have to get out of our warm cozy beds, get dressed for work and sludge around the whole day.

We finally get off work, and grow ever more excited as we get close to our homes. Mile by mile our smile and heart grow with anticipation.

Left turn.

Right turn.

Bigger and bigger smiles. It basically jumps off your face and beats you to the house!

Pull into the driveway. Push the garage door opener.

Nothing.

What? You say to yourself . What can possibly be happening to my day. So close. But not quite.

Don't you worry though its all a simple thing. Your power may have went out or maybe the garage door just got unlatched. either way you'll be just fine.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

Is it really a simple thing?

Yes we believe it to be. A lot of the times that people can't get into the garage door it is usually because the motor is dead or the power is out. Go into the garage and locate the manual pull string. This is usually a red and white rope that hangs down from the opener trolley. Depending on the type of garage door opener you have you will either need to pull it straight down and back or simply straight down.

Congratulations you've now successfully unlatched your failed garage door opener. Bring it up and down slowly as needed until the power comes back on.

Can't open the door manually and power is on? You're probably looking at a broken spring and we recommend calling a professional repair company for that. It isn't worth the risk of damaging your body parts or hands and fingers.

You may also find sometimes that you left the garage door open. This website has a great write up of that exact scenario. Check out this link -> garage door left open
